As I write this, I am not only going through menopause, but my twin sons – my only children, my youngest and oldest – are leaving the nest. As you read this, they will have just moved into dorms at separate colleges. I am sitting eggless in what is about to be an empty nest. While I am both very excited and nervous for them — and for me — it doesn’t seem real. Doesn’t seem possible. Then I look at the tuition and housing bills, and I realize it’s all as real as I now know Kim Kardashian’s “back story” is since she made the wise and tasteful decision of having it X-rayed on TV to clear up any doubt. (I know Iam sleeping better since she took that brave step, and I have to imagine the rest of the country is, too.)

Sitting Empty In A Soon-To-Be- Eggless Nest!
As I write this, I am not only going through menopause, but my twin sons – my only children, my youngest and oldest – are leaving the nest. Please read the rest here. It's my monthly guest column for Health Bistro and Lifescript.com! To all my friends on the east coast, best wishes for riding out Irene! I will likely be unable to comment due to power loss for days, possibly weeks, but really appreciate your readership!

Love this! Appreciate the good humor!
ReplyDeleteThanks, menopausal mama!
ReplyDeleteToo funny. I am a woman about to go through the same thing, well at least about to be an empty nester, not so sure about the menopause. My daughter is about to graduate and may be heading off to College. I live rurally so this will be a big separation. I never thought it would hit me so hard, at one time I even welcomed the idea, but now that it approaches its another matter. As far as menopause goes well I must admit I am sort of looking forward to that, especially the hot flashes. I cannot wait to actually feel warm and fuzzy for a change, lol, I am always freezing cold, brrrr. Loved your blog, great sense of humor, and totally understanding of all women, we can all related, and if not now, surely in the future.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting and commenting, Brenda! You made my day! Actually, once you get used to it, there are some nice things about the "empty nest!" Best wishes!
ReplyDelete*sigh* As much as I LOVE my kids I can't wait until I can get some peace and not be running around after them all the time......and then I remember that some fool decided to go back and have another one just as her youngest hit the teens......I guess that dream is gonna be a long time coming now!!!
ReplyDeleteIt will come, Sharls! Hold onto the dream! Thanks for visiting and commenting!
